American do it better - part 1
I did the therelay over the week-end. It was an incredible experience. I met new people. It drove me to got back into more outdoor sports. I learned that if I do a long distance competition, I got to train for it : I can't assume I'll be alright. I discovered after mentioning to my teammate we were crazy that Dean Karnazes is even crazier (he did the whole thing by hisself).
But what stroke me the most is how Americans use extreme (or not) sports events to raise money for a good cause. My team alone raised more than $2500 for the Organs'R'Us.
This is not something that is common in France. In France, you would do marathon, or you would have a fundraiser for a good cause, not the two at the same time. By combining the two you get to touch a bigger audience in one shot.
Something to keep in mind.
PS: this is only the part 1, because american do a lot of things better. I'll come up with a part 2 at some point.
