Google Wave

Google_wave_logo

I said in an earlier post that Google pretty much failed all is social media initiative. However, Google is the king of productivity.

It feels like Google wave is social media meets productivity. I can't wait to see how they are going to open up in order to leverage all social channels (including the one they don't owe).

Just signed up to get to play with it as soon as they are ready.

The informers

Informers

No I was not one of the geeks waiting in lines for hours to see Star Trek (Not my generation I guess). I went to watch "The informers".

It tries to show the excess of the 80s : sex, drug, money and their consequences adultery, AIDS, corruption, OD.

Not a bad movie, but i don't know if i'll remember it. I can obviously link the relationship between the characters but not really between the inside stories. The only reason I could remember it would be because i can definitely relate it to Beigbeder's universe.

I probably need to read the book because even Bret Easton Ellis seems to be disappointed with the movie.

By the way people in the 80s seriously had hair style issues.

American do it better - part 1

Landing_therelay

I did the therelay over the week-end. It was an incredible experience. I met new people. It drove me to got back into more outdoor sports. I learned that if I do a long distance competition, I got to train for it : I can't assume I'll be alright. I discovered after mentioning to my teammate we were crazy that Dean Karnazes is even crazier (he did the whole thing by hisself).

But what stroke me the most is how Americans use extreme (or not) sports events to raise money for a good cause. My team alone raised more than $2500 for the Organs'R'Us.

This is not something that is common in France. In France, you would do marathon, or you would have a fundraiser for a good cause, not the two at the same time. By combining the two you get to touch a bigger audience in one shot.

Something to keep in mind.

PS: this is only the part 1, because american do a lot of things better. I'll come up with a part 2 at some point.
